It's easy to spend money aimlessly. I know. But after a layoff and being forced to re-prioritize my life (and spending habits), I felt guilty. Years of dropping money on things I had to have without a thought to where or to whom my money was going to finally caught up with me.

I decided to take a stand, even if I was the only one it mattered to. I told myself when it came to indulgences, I'd make more informed choices and vote with my dollar. I'd choose local. I'd choose companies whose values resonated with my own. I'd rally for the underdog and hope they'd win.

A Worthy Splurge is a culmination of my research into companies, products, experiences and people I believe in. Making informed choices takes a little more time, but that's why this site exists. I hope it cuts away the fat and simplifies your life, maybe even enriches it with new things and experiences that you might not have had otherwise.

I'm not perfect; there are times I fail my pledge, but at least I'm trying. Join me, won't you?
